People of London - Meet Ab the skater - Croydon, London.

I met Ab while sating in Croydon. He has been skating for more then a year and developed his own theory about balance.

Vlog in text:
picked up I just came from the Barbie machine Barbie movie is so good it's so funny and listen folks I've just came back from the Barbie movie all right so this is not this is not a can but this is out my friend is interskating today is going to show us a few tricks and his own theory about uh he was going to tell us about his own theory about skating balance I think it's not it doesn't just applied to skating but it's important for skating um rudimentary and obvious but I don't think it was obvious for me and I don't think it's something that a lot will talk about Wednesday yeah dive deep in this place yeah all right so I think one of the first things I think you have to think about if you're thinking of starting skating is that I think when you're walking and you're holding your legs behind underneath you 've got like an A-frame you've got two feet and you kind of seem balanced but realistically if you're only a one foot you're not I think it's hard to describe probably better to show but we can do that in a minute yeah the first sort of thing to understand with rollerblading is that you're actually more often on one foot it's a little bit more like skateboarding like one foot on the board one foot pushing and you just alternate one of the hard things to get used to is when you're walking your your stay to the left to right but if you're only balancing with one foot you probably do it subconsciously but you actually want that foot right in the middle if you make like a line between your shoulders and look down that foot has to be directly in the middle of you to actually support you anywhere slightly to the side and you're going to wobble off um so yeah I think like the demonstration as I'm standing now this is what I recruit the A-frame if I make two lines for my shoulders down to the floor they're both supporting me the second I lift one foot up I'm gonna fall over now try a balanced I actually have to shift my body like this and if I look between my shoulders my foot is actually now directly in between that line so if I face you so when you're skating you're not trying to wobble onto one foot until you fall back over trying to twist yourselves and get that foot in between that line as you go forward all right so it's more of a two o'clock kind of ten o'clock movement you push you ballot you get that foot underneath your body you push and like put it underneath your body hard to describe the skates on I think it's easier to do it with your shoes all right if you're with your boots off okay how long you've been skating a year a year a year a month ago like maybe like three weeks ago it's a year all right yeah you can show your skills now I mean I did sort of demonstrate what I'm talking about play to practice is like you want to be able to get one right you're not just sort of one foot down coming

twist your whole body

[Music]

and that averages to a forward momentum all right thanks a lot for that lesson uh what would you say for anybody who just become as a skater uh

it's good like uh low impact exercise like you don't damage your knees you can do it safely uh I'm 34 and I just started my 30s I met people who started their 40s um and I don't know it's fun I think like for such good exercise like it works all your lower body all your core it's probably your arms are the only thing that don't get like the best workout but like I don't know it's not boring like going to a gym like uh it's fun and I think the things you learn to do just make you feel kind of graceful and cool you know [Music]

I don't know I can do this all day you know like it's just I've never quite felt as agile as I do now

but a nice one well thanks a lot for the interview is there any way people can get hold of you on social media so I have no you're not that person all right thanks a lot up until next time till next time cheers
