I met Helen in Cieszyn town by Philip , a Polish homeless man who met Helen before. Helen bought Philip food and drink. Folks we are here with Helen who comes from Ireland but is visiting Poland right now so Helen what brought you to Poland to the town of Chesh uh Helenov suppression numium donk uh I I speak English yeah this is actually I've got in English channel helen can speak some Polish she just said that hello i um I I am from uh county I live in county Dunnigal in Ireland and I come to stay in Cheshan because uh my friends they are Polish they live nearby and every year I I come to visit them so the last 2 years I stay in a place called Ron and this is my first time in Cheshan and so far I have made uh another friend already i meet my good friend Philillip who is Polish yeah was very generous and uh Philip very very good man and uh I think this area is spectacular uh I am visiting Cheshin with uh my adult son who has a disability he has uh autism and intellectual disability so usually uh we try to find a place that um is um disabled friendly and uh so far Chesh is the best place everybody is so accepting and nobody not many people uh they pass judgment uh because usually we are used a lot of people they stare and uh so far not not many people do this so it is really good uh I love the pedestrianized uh areas so um my my son can walk around freely and the I always love the Polish architecture i think that uh the Polish buildings they're just so beautiful and uh I just I just love Poland so uh maybe maybe if I um win the lottery I can maybe buy house in Poland so yeah are you ready for the cold winters yeah no ireland mr mand come cold all right Helen well tell us about more about yourself what what you doing in in in Ireland uh I am work uh I am full-time carer right i take care of uh my son who has uh special needs and I help care for my mother who has Parkinson's disease all right so you are a full-time carer right full-time carer yeah all right uh so what do you think about the Polish people living in Ireland there's there's quite a few of them right yes yes they uh Yeah i I think I find uh Polish people they're very very friendly very hard workers uh sometimes I think Polish people work harder than Irish people they uh But don't tell the Irish people but um yeah I I have never met a Polish person I didn't like uh I love Inca and Inca the country right right and uh so I always go to Polish shop and I buy Inca so you you managed to like have some Polish friends here in Ireland yeah because there's so many and they you've got friends here in in Poland now and you came and you stay with your friends yes all right that's cool all right ellen uh tell us about your hobbies you know what kind of music do you like enya you too uh the may I'm too young to like Enya right well I know but I love myself i used to listen to Anya all the time yeah I I like lots of different um music i uh usually the music I like is uh because uh of the story you know the the lyrics the lyrics right right not not the the melody itself yeah but uh both both but uh usually um I I find a lot of my life you know that uh from I was a teenager that uh it was certain uh songs it feels like the musician they they write the song for me you know it's because uh certain music I can really identify with this particular song and uh you know so maybe some music uh I listen when I'm sad because it cheers like um everybody hurts i really love this song because if I'm feeling really down it it really cheers me up because it lets me know I am not the only person do you know that um everybody feels pain and uh it's um it's it's like it it uh it gives me the motivation to start to feel better you know mhm do you think there's a lot of homeless people in Poland sorry do you think there is a whole lot of homeless people in Poland i I don't know i I um I'm not sure i've only in the last 3 years I've visited I think maybe I've seen four homeless people but when I visit I maybe only stay for one week okay so but there's not that many you would say i I don't know this is only what I've witnessed all right so I I maybe there's lots i I don't know it's like uh in Ireland if if you go to certain places you don't see any homeless people but then if you go to a different place you see lots and lots yeah I've got I've got a series with homeless people in Dublin myself i went to visit my friend and didn't done a a series about homeless people there a lot of drug addiction in in here is mostly alcohol not only yeah but in Ireland in Ireland not everyone that is homeless is because of alcohol and drugs a lot of the time like in Ireland there's a huge cost to live in crisis and uh they uh I think it's everywhere but in Ireland the the rents because there is not enough houses and apartments for the people that live there so it means that maybe if one house is for rent there could be 100 families go to visit this house so the landlord he can ask for any amount of money so the rent is very very high and it means people have nowhere to live so some people are working they have job but they still can't afford to pay for apartment or rent you know i see i see all right Helen is there anything else you would like to add to the I love Poland i think Poland is one of the best countries in the world and uh I think uh I I think uh Polish uh people are are very very nice and um very friendly oh thank you very much have you been to Czech Republic which is just like 5 minutes away from here no I've only been to Poland well 5 minutes walk from here is Czech Republic and you with your ID you can cross the border okay and just see what Czech Republic just came from Czech Republic this town is divided between Poland and Czech Republic so yeah I would recommend you to to to see it's a bit different there uh the language is different it's a bit different yeah all right Helen uh well thanks a lot for the interview okay and uh well I hope you've you enjoyed the the holidays okay how long you staying for uh we return on Saturday on Saturday you flying with Ryanire yeah oh yeah me too actually not from London yeah the um the the flights uh I could there was uh Heirlingus don't fly to Katavita to Kat Vita yeah i don't think I don't think Erlingus fly to Kata oh no they like Gdans or they may fly yes so it's too far or are you flying from Dublin or you flying from from Dublin so we get at the airport is 3 hours so 3 hours from you yeah yeah so we we get um yesterday morning we uh we get bus at 2:30 a.m and then uh we arrive at airport and then uh we get the flight at 9 9:00 a.m and then we arrive here at lunchtime all
