Scottish Bothies (The Best Things In Life Are Free)

 As the saying goes,The Best Things In Life Are Free.On this episode I visited three bothies (free accommodation, shelter old cottages) located on the West Coast of Scotland. The first one is a kind of a secret bothy because founders do not want any publications about it. Somebody simply needs to take you there. It is a real gem. Second one is in Glen Duror (between Fort William and Oban) and the last in Glen Finnan (between Fort William and Mallaig) What is a bothy? A bothy was originally farm accommodation for itinerant workers; now a bothy is an open shelter usually in a remote location where travellers might have need of four walls and a roof. Most bothies are old cottages and at least several hours walk from the public road.

A fruit of love - Glencoe Lochan ( a cinematic gem in the Scottisch Highlands)

Glencoe Lochan is a tract of forest located just north of Glencoe village in the Scottish Highlands. In the end opf the vlog you can see how i almost lost my drone. it landed 5 meters above the Lochan waters on a tree. Check if i recovered it or not! Lochan woods were planted in the 1890s by Donald Alexander Smith, 1st Baron Strathcona and Mount Royal, with trees transplanted from the Pacific Northwest of #Canada. He got married in Canada with a Canadian woman called Isabella. She became to be homesick for her homeland Canada. So the guy decided to build a little Canada in their Glencoe estate for her. many kinds of tress that still grow here were transported from Canada. Lord worked painstakingly on the project achieving this hidden among Scottish wilderness gem. The location ion well known among professional photographers for its mirror like water surface of the lochan, reflecting the majestic Pap of Glencoe which is located just few miles beyond the estate. Glencoe Lochan is a good starting point for exploring more of Scotland's most famous glen. This is a great piece of Scottish Canadian common history. Many streets and building have name of baron Strathcona in Canada but not many people are aware who he actually was. he was a great philanthropist, founding schools and hospitals in Scotland and Canada.
